Melanocortin receptor agonist used in receptor-signaling research models.
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analog of alpha-MSH that acts as a non-selective agonist at melanocortin receptors, with notable activity at MC3R and MC4R. Laboratory groups use it in receptor binding, cAMP accumulation, and β-arrestin recruitment assays to characterise melanocortin-family pharmacology in cultured cell lines. Supplied as a sterile lyophilized powder for reconstitution in bacteriostatic water. For laboratory research use only — not for human or veterinary use.
